Local City Bicycling Initiatives
The local 2011 MRT and MRT/ADT riverfront trail extensions and engineering studies will collectively make this the Year of the Iowa MRT!!! These trail extensions will:
- unite river communities!
- provide valuable additional immediate and future opportunities for local recreation!
- be integral to the Mississippi River Trail (MRT) that will extend from the headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico!
Clinton / Camanche: MRT (Mississippi River Trail)
Clinton and Camanche received a $2.2 million earmark five years ago for a trail to connect the communities. The cities secured the 20% match necessary for the 4 mile trail that will connect their riverfronts. Construction is underway and expected to be completed in the spring of 2011.
