We all love to ride. And we need safe places to ride where visibility for trail users and motorists (and truck drivers) is good. Please help the QCBC clear out overgrown brush along the Mississippi River Trail (also called the Riverfront Trail) along the industrial area by Sivyer Steel. The City of Bettendorf has done some clearing along the trail itself, but we need to cut back the brush along the RR tracks on the North side. This will help improve visibility for us, the truck drivers and employees of the industrial businesses. Please park at Donohoo Steel Treating at 423 33rd St, just North of the RR tracks. We have been given permission to pile brush in their parking lot in the Southwest Corner. The City of Bettendorf will pick up this brush when we are finished. Please wear long pants, long shirt (bright colored is best), work boots and medium to heavy duty work gloves. Bring long handled pruning shears, rakes, leaf blower, weed trimmer, small step stool, etc to cut back brush. For hauling the brush to Donohoo’s parking lot, an old bedsheet or tarp would be helpful.
